NJIPEG New Jersey Group March 1 – 14 2008
On March 1, 2008-- Holy Land Trust received a delegation of ten Americans from New Jersey Presbyterian Church. The purpose of their trip was to witness the situation in Palestine and raise awareness about the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. They traveled around the West Bank and Israel, visiting different local organizations, meeting with peace activists, and witnessing the situation through their own eyes. |

Rabbinical Students Tour Bethlehem |

Holy Land Trust, along with the Encounter Program, hosted twenty Jewish-American rabbinical students for a two-day learning tour in Palestine. The program wove together meetings with local organizations with group Jewish spiritual practices such as daily prayers and Torah reading. The participants are all studying in Jerusalem-- some to be rabbis, others to be cantors, as well as a few studying in a pre-army program. For some it was the first time in a Palestinian city. Some participants admitted they were initially apprehensive about entering Palestine, but later said they were surprised with how safe they felt. On the first day, participants met with the director of Hope Flowers School and helped with an art activity with Palestinian children. After afternoon prayers they met with a representative of the Negotiations Support Unit to hear an overview of current political events. In the evening the group me with Palestinian teenagers for a time of cooperative games and conversation. Some of the participants chose to stay with local Palestinian host families. |
